Closed at the UMU a master's degree that places the Region at the forefront in oncological training (27/10/2017)

In the Hemicycle of the Faculty of Letters of the University of Murcia, this morning the 8th edition of the Master's Degree in Advanced Technological Applications in Radiotherapeutic Oncology was closed, a postgraduate that is characterized to train students from all over the world in this specialty of the Oncology and that has been studied by students from countries like Venezuela, Mexico, Chile or Russia.

A total of 189 professors, 250 lectures and six courses specialized in different types of cancer and their treatments have integrated this Master, which has comprised practical assistance training in the latest technologies.

This postgraduate course, organized by the GenesisCare Foundation in collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Murcia, is helping to situate the Region of Murcia as a reference in this specialty around the world, with students from 25 countries who have taken it in all its editions, and favoring the specialization of the same in their clinical, academic and research training.

Today's academic event was preceded by a lecture given by Umberto Ricardi, a specialist in Radiation Oncology at the University of Turin and President-elect of the European Society of Oncologic Radiation Therapy (ESTRO), on the topic of "Radiation therapy in lymphomas: updated paper, new guidelines and current and future developments ", highlighting the outstanding role of radiotherapy in the treatment of lymphomas.

The event was attended by Pedro Miralles, Vice-Rector of Training and Innovation of the UMU;

María Teresa Martínez Ros, Director General of Planning, Research, Pharmacy and Care of the Citizen of CARM, as well as by the directors of the Master, José Luis Ramón García, Professor of Medical Physics of UMU;

Ignacio Azinovic, medical director of GenesiCare and executive director of the master's degree;

Felipe A. Calvo, scientific director of the master, and Ramón Berra de Unamuno, president of the GenesisCare Foundation.

The event has led to the closing of the academic year 2016-2017, starting a new edition (the IX) of the master's degree through which the University of Murcia and the GenesisCare Foundation promote the updating and improvement of the specialists in Radiotherapy Oncology in a face-to-face modality , with a total of 60 credits (ECTS).
