The Councilor for Modernization of Administration, Urban Quality and Participation, José Guillén, received this morning the two promoters of the initiative 'My smart city', Eduardo Bustillo and Pablo Rodríguez, of GEOCyL Consultoría, who for six months are touring in electric car 82 smart cities of Spain to know, analyze and disseminate the initiatives and projects of these Smart Cities.
Guillén has listed the milestones of vital interest and importance for the city of Murcia that will characterize the municipal action in the field of digitization, innovation and commitment to sustainability.
Thus, the first of these milestones is the concession of 5.4 million euros, which added to the municipal contribution amounts to eight, in the second call of RED.es digital cities to implement the project MiMucia, a project designed to achieve a deep digital transformation of our city and to create a more open and close to the citizen and that represents the roadmap that our city will follow during the next years to complete its digital transformation.
"This is undoubtedly an ambitious project whose fundamental pillars are innovation, the integration of services, and the desire to make participants and protagonists our citizens of this digital transformation," said the councilman.
The second is the grant of 14 million euros of ERDF funds managed through the second call for EDUSI, which recognizes the best strategies presented in the city and in which Murcia has been selected with its project "IT Murcia Innovation and Tradition" .
To this must be added the impulse of the digital administration in the City of Murcia to enable its digital headquarters thanks to which the digital processing of one third of the 180 existing procedures at the municipal level is offered.
"All these precedents confirm, without a doubt, that this City Council is responding decisively to the challenges and the new needs of our society and our citizens in this new digital age," said Guillén.
'My smart city' is a project of analysis and dissemination of Smart Cities or Smart City in Spain.
Its first edition took place in 2013, in which two geographers, partners of GEOCyL, traveled for eight weeks, 30 cities belonging to the Spanish Network of Intelligent Cities, using an electric vehicle - Renault Twizy.
The project "My Smart City" aims to analyze smart cities from a geographic perspective, studying how new policies and intelligent projects transform the habitability and morphology of cities.
The initiative also has a solidarity component, raise funds for the fight against cancer from the hand of the association "We can be heroes".
This second edition of the project reaches all the member cities of the Spanish Network of Intelligent Cities, proposing a tour of 82 cities, revisiting the 30 cities that were part of the project in 2013 (among them Murcia) and knowing the initiatives of the 52 cities incorporated after the first edition of the project.
It is articulated as an update and review of the analysis of smart cities in Spain, as well as a boost to the dissemination of new lines of work being carried out in each of the municipalities.
