The Park and Gardens Service, which is part of the Department of Modernization of Administration, Urban Quality and Participation, directed by José Guillén, has completed the works that have allowed two central green spaces of Murcia, the garden of Salitre and the orchard López Ferrer, be united by a footpath.
For this, a suitable layout has been established by paving with pavers allowing the connection between these two spaces.
Also new areas of stay have been created with the placement of benches, and gerontogimnasia apparatuses have been installed.
To give the space a renewed image and full of color have been planted more than 300 specimens among which stand out orange, syringes, abelias, clivias, lavenders and myrtles among others.
It should be remembered that a few months ago a new labyrinth was installed in the garden of the Salitre, of free use, of more than 150 linear meters, and half thousand of shrubs of 20 different species were planted with a system of drip irrigation automated which facilitates its maintenance and is a water saving.
Also in this green area will be installed a new and extensive children's play area that will be a reference in the municipality.
Councilman José Guillén explained that "the goal is to turn this space into a place of tranquility without having to leave the city that serves as a meeting to read, rest or walk."
In addition, "the works have allowed to improve the pedestrian circulation in this zone creating this path that interconnects the garden of the Powder, the Rocio, the Salitre and the orchard Lopez-Ferrer."
According to Guillén, "from the City Council we seek to ensure that public spaces are adequate and maintained in perfect conditions for the use and enjoyment of Murcia, making them real meeting areas between neighbors."
