The Governing Council has approved the contracting of the basic project and execution of the restoration and conditioning of the third phase of the church of San Esteban in Murcia, with an investment of more than 1.7 million euros and a term of execution of 18 months.
Phase III of these works will allow a complete conclusion of the restoration of the church, except the altarpieces.
This last phase includes the installation of air conditioning, renovation of lighting and electrical installation, audio installation, video and simultaneous translation, placement of fire safety devices, as well as restoration of exterior façades, decks and improvement of urbanization Exterior.
With these activities the church can host cultural events and can be used as a function room for events of a magnitude, with a capacity of approximately 350 people.
The process of contracting the works will be done by open procedure.
The church of San Esteban belongs to the monumental complex of the Palace of San Esteban, which was the headquarters of the Colegio de la Compañía de Jesús, begun in 1556 and completed in 1569 with the completion of the church.
It was used by the Jesuits until its expulsion in 1767. The great reform of the set began in 1982.
