The Recruitment Table, chaired by Councilor for Finance and Contracting, Eduardo Martínez-Oliva and attended by representatives of municipal political groups, has opened the 30 technical offers presented for the project of pedestrianization of Avenida Alfonso X in its first phase, from the Plaza Santo Domingo to the avenue Jaime I.
All of them have been accepted and, once the technicians of the Infrastructure, Sustainable Development and Public Road service and the technical author of the project make their report and evaluate the offers, the economic proposals will be opened.
This will allow, according to the forecasts, the works begin after Christmas with a maximum budget of 3,199,312 euros.
The works of this first phase, will be executed in three sequential times: west carriageway (Santa Clara), east carriageway (Santa Ana) and central walkway, allowing in this way that there are always two areas available for pedestrian and road traffic.
This project will allow the incorporation of more than 14,000 square meters of new pedestrian area, providing linearity to the entire walk from Santo Domingo to Plaza Circular.
The action will be carried out in two phases: Phase I, which has already been tendered, and which includes from Santo Domingo to Jaime I (with an area of ​​7,600 m2), and Phase II (6,800 m2) from Jaime I to La Circular.
This will create a huge pedestrian itinerary, about 50,000 square meters, in the historic center of the city from La Glorieta to Circular Square, crossing Plaza Belluga, Trapería, Santo Domingo and Alfonso X.
This initiative will allow Alfonso X Avenue a total pedestrianization of the space that restricts the traffic of vehicles to residents, public transport (taxis), school zone and charge-unload in regulated hours, circulating in a single direction towards Santo Domingo along the road west, the one next to the church of Las Claras.
In addition, the financial offers of the 9 bidders that have been submitted to the maintenance service and new implementation of horizontal and vertical signage have been known.
The Department of Traffic and Citizen Security will invest in this contract a maximum of 1,479,600 euros.
By means of the present contracts will be carried out the units of work of placement, replacement, maintenance and conservation of the material of markings and vertical and horizontal signage, necessary to undertake new actions and reorganizations of new implantation that are realized in all the municipal term, like for the correct maintenance of the same, that due to acts vandalism, accidents and others, it needs to be replaced or repaired daily.
