The Poncemar Chair of Gerontology of the University of Murcia organizes the "I Conference of Improvement of the Clinical Practice in Geriatrics", within its program of training activities for the exercise in socio-sanitary matters with elderly people.
These days, accredited as continuing education of the health professions of the Region of Murcia, will be held on 4 and 5 October from 16h to 20 hours and will take place in the auditorium of the Health Sciences Campus of Lorca.
Oriented especially to doctors, nurses and pharmacists, they are part of the commitment that this Chair has acquired with the city of Lorca in matters of chronicity and public health.

They will be inaugurated on Wednesday, October 4 at 4:00 pm by the Mayor of the City of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil Jódar, and will begin with the conference of the Director of the Institute for Research on Aging, Professor of Medicine at the University of Murcia María Trinidad Herrero Ezquerro.
Throughout this convention there will be six presentations that will cover various topics such as 'Fall Prevention', 'Early Alzheimer's Diagnosis', 'Early Diagnosis of Cancer', 'Management of the Agitated Patient', 'Nutrition in the Major Diabetic' and 'Early detection of institutional, social or family mistreatment', all of which are provided by qualified professionals from the health sector of the Region of Murcia who work in Lorca, Murcia and Cartagena.
Two neurologists, two family and community medicine doctors, an oncologist, and the nursing supervisor of the Day Hospital of the Rafael Méndez University Hospital (Lorca) are available for this purpose.
In addition, they wish to promote the participation of the attending professionals with two workshops on 'Deprescription' and 'Communication skills with the patient and with the resources of the community'.
The latter, given by the doctor in public health José Miguel Ruiz Maldonado, coordinator of the conference.
The conference will be closed with the conference of the managing director of the Murciano Health Service, Dr. Asensio López Santiago on 'Time and the future'.
The mayor of the City of Lorca will close this event together with representatives of the rectoral team of the University of Murcia and the Director General of Universities.
