"Last year 100% of the schools, 186 of the municipality, took part in this program and made about 3,000 visits," said the mayor. Children and young people from 3 to 18 years will have the opportunity to take the lessons that study in the classrooms to the main monuments and places of interest of Murcia
The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, together with the Councilor for Education, Relations with Universities and Heritage, Rafa Gómez, presented today the Education Offer 2017/2018 of the City Council, a program of activities that will reach 72,700 students aged from 3 to the age of 18, which includes cultural outings and guided tours, educational seminars, children's shows and various workshops.
Under the name of 'My city teaches' the schoolchildren of the municipality of Murcia will make guided trips and outings to discover the cultural heritage and natural resources of the municipality.
Last year the participation of Murcia centers was 100% in this program.
Children and young people of the 124 educational centers of the districts and 62 of the urban center will have the opportunity to take the lessons they study in the classrooms to the main monuments and places of interest of Murcia, approaching the cultural and historical wealth of the municipality and its artistic and cultural heritage.
In this way, you will be able to get acquainted with the Moorish heritage of Murcia with a visit to the irrigation ditches of La Contraparada or discover the defensive system of medieval Murcia on the wall of Santa Eulalia.
"It is said that education is what changes the world, but it is not.
Education changes people so that they change the world.
This humanist conception of teachers is what makes the difference, "said José Ballesta, who added that" last year 100% of the schools, 186 of the municipality, participated in this program and made about 3,000 visits.
