Communiqué of the Government Delegation (15/09/2017)

Regarding the information published in various media about the events that occurred on the evening of September 14 in the concentration convened by the Pro-Burial Platform, the Government Delegation reports that the police device was developed with absolute normality , without carrying out any police charge or using violence to evict those demonstrators who had invaded the passage at the level of Santiago El Mayor and interrupted rail traffic.

About 21:30 hours, before the deployment of the Civil Security Brigade, some demonstrators began to sit on the tracks, at which time the agents proceeded to evict them and to place them behind the police cordon to leave the passage to free level.

At that time, one of the concentrates, identified and known from the Provincial Information Brigade, threw a stone against police officers.

After the eviction of the road, rail traffic was restored and around 00.25 hours the police device was withdrawn while the last concentrates left the place.

The Government delegation recognizes, protects and defends the right of demonstration of the members of the Pro-Underground Platform, especially in all those concentrations that are communicated in a timely manner, something that has not happened these last three days, in which certain attitudes have seriously compromised their own safety and that of train users.

It is the obligation of the Government Delegation and the National Police to guarantee the safety of citizens, and any claim involving occupation of the roads entails a serious risk to their safety, including, and especially, those children who also we have seen during these days occupy the tracks of the train.

The Government Delegation appeals to the responsibility of all those who, with certain attitudes, muddle and damage legitimate demands, such as those of the pro-underground platform, but also denounces those intolerable acts of sabotage, such as the burning of machinery of ADIF or the placement of stones and cement in the tracks, a circumstance that could have derived, had it not been detected in due time by the technicians, in a tragedy of enormous proportions.

These are facts that may be constitutive of an offense established in the Penal Code.

The Government Delegation also recalls its obligation to defend the rights of travelers, who are systematically violated when roads are cut, and who, on the other hand, also demand and demand protection and respect for their rights.

Delay trains

So far this year, and until yesterday, 266 trains have suffered delays as a result of incidents of public order due to invasion of the tracks, which has generated a delay of more than 58 hours for users.

Since 20 November 2012, the number of affected trains has reached 2,227, resulting in an accumulated delay of 432 hours.

Identified

As a result of yesterday's concentration, the National Police proceeded to identify a dozen people without any arrests.
