The Park and Gardens Service, which is part of the Department of Modernization, Urban Quality and Participation, led by José Guillén, has advanced this year the traditional pruning of palm trees in the municipality of Murcia.
"The work has been done before with a double meaning: on the one hand the fruits do not fall and stains the soil and, on the other hand, guarantee the safety of pedestrians since in summer low activity in the municipality," explains the mayor Of the branch, José Guillén.
In the neighborhood of the Fleet more than 500 palm trees have been pruned mainly of the species of the genus Phoenix canariensis and Phoenix dactylífera, as well as Washingtonia.
A team of twelve people has worked in recent weeks to ensure that these tall specimens display their beauty, mainly using the climbing system for their revision and removal of dry branches
Specifically, in the neighborhood of the Fleet the largest concentration of palm trees is located in the Garden of the Three Cups, Garden of the Fleet, medians of the Avenida Española Española, Juan de Borbón and Paseo Virgen de la Fuensanta.
The pruning remains of these palm trees are transferred to an authorized waste center for further treatment, thus complying with the current environmental regulations in this area.
