The European Mobility Plan of the Department of Youth and Development Cooperation promotes knowledge of other countries, the exchange of ideas and the practice of languages.
The themes and duration are very diverse in order to respond to the demands and concerns of the young people themselves.
They cover, therefore, cultural, artistic, social or leisure activities, among other areas.
In addition, 8 young people from European countries are part of the host programs in the city.
The Department of Youth and Development Cooperation, led by Rebeca Pérez, has for more than 20 years promoting the participation of young Murcia in European programs, thus promoting the knowledge of other countries, the exchange of ideas and practice of languages.
There are four proposals to intervene in them: the European plan for European exchanges, the sending and reception of European volunteers and the reception of Erasmus Internships.
In total, there are 123 young Murcia who will have left or will leave to other cities, while 8 will come or have come to Murcia attached to these programs.
Some of the protagonists who have already lived these experiences or are preparing their next trip have maintained this morning a meeting with Councilwoman Rebecca Perez, to whom they have transferred their experiences.
About two decades ago, the City of Murcia organized the municipal exchange plan, which this year, between July and September, will allow 98 young people between 12 and 24 years old to participate in 13 projects that are developed in cities of 8 countries, Germany, Belgium, Slovakia, Italy, Cyprus, Luxembourg, Finland and Romania.
The diversity of areas and themes between the exchanges is very varied, since it is intended to respond to the own demands and interests of young Murcia.
For this reason, the proposals range from cultural and artistic activities, to others of a social or leisure time, among others.
Thus, those attending the stay in Antwerp (Belgium) have been able to arouse their curiosity about how democracy and peace in Europe have been growing and evolving during the last century;
In Rostock, Germany, the aim was to deepen the values that promote respect, justice, tolerance and solidarity among cultures;
The participants in Ettelbruck (Luxembourg) formed an international orchestra that at the end of the meeting offered a concert for the inhabitants of the city;
In Colmar-Berg (Luxembourg), participants from four countries have had the opportunity to perform different outdoor activities, analyzing their social and personal reality and trying to project and realize a future vision of their experience in the transition to adult life ;
Young people who have traveled to Resita City, Caras (Romania) have had the opportunity to approach and connect with the rural environment;
Exploring and engaging in villagers' farming activities;
On the other hand, the exchange held in Turin (Italy) sought to raise awareness and encourage young people to think about topics such as consumption or sustainable development, linking activities with a practical approach to environmental education.
They are examples of the variety of projects that have had the opportunity to intervene a hundred young Murcia this summer.
Others are still living it or are going to do it soon.
Thus, the 10 young people who traveled to Finland return on Saturday;
While those inscribed in the plans of Germany and Slovakia will leave in the coming days and those of Cyprus will do so in September.
The groups are accompanied by monitors specialized in the subject of exchange, with experience in international activities and language skills.
The total cost of the Municipal Youth Exchange Plan is € 90,000, of which € 36,000 is funded by the European Commission and the municipal contribution amounts to € 33,000, while for attendees it costs € 225 per person.
Also, 25 young people have traveled or will be doing this year within the European voluntary project, which is fully funded by the Erasmus Plus Program.
Together, they have moved to 11 different countries, totaling 157 months of activity.
European funding includes international travel, accommodation and support, insurance, pocket money, internal transport and language and intercultural training.
In this case, Bulgaria and Finland are the countries with the youngest Murcia (5 each), followed by Belgium (4), Ireland, Portugal and Slovenia (2) and the Netherlands, France, Italy and Hungary (1).
The duration of each stay varies in each case, from 1 month, the shortest, to 1 year in the most prolonged case.
The activities are equally varied: social integration with young people at risk of exclusion;
Social, cultural and artistic promotion;
Language workshops;
Leisure and free time with children;
Pedagogical activities in a circus school with people with disabilities;
Recovery of second-hand materials;
Or the preparation of a football tournament and the construction of a road accessible to people who move with a wheelchair.
But, as with the exchange plan, the offer of volunteer activities is very broad and diverse.
The remaining two programs that complete European mobility this year are hosted in Murcia.
One of them will bring 3 young people to the city: one from Poland, who has supported the junior and senior language clubs for six months;
In October a young woman from the same country will join and another from Luxembourg will arrive in November.
