A score of students from the first promotion of the University Master's Degree in Flamenco Art from the Catholic University of San Antonio received this morning the certificate of completion of their studies within the program of the International Festival of Cante de las Minas.
The Mayor of La Unión, Pedro López, and the academic coordinator of this university degree, Sebastián Gómez-Lozano, were responsible for delivering these diplomas to those who have succeeded in acquiring the necessary professional skills to devote themselves to the artistic and professional interpretation of this Art declared Intangible Heritage of Humanity.
Gómez-Lozano emphasized that "flamenco needs a high qualification both in the modalities of singing and dancing as in the guitar, so this title has the purpose of achieving competencies for all students."
That is why I encourage all of you to participate in this academic meeting
The collaboration of UCAM and the Cante de las Minas Foundation was born with the vocation of giving university recognition to flamenco art.
The result of this joint work is the International Chair of Flamencology, which covers a pending subject that the university world had with flamenco, with the aim of spreading and transmitting the knowledge of flamenco, Estrella Morente being the director of this Chair at the Catholic University
