The councilor of Cambiemos murcia Nacho Tornel today called the "incomprehensible" that in the month of August the Tourism Office of the Plaza del Cardenal Belluga, which is the main point of arrival of organized groups of tourists who travel to the capital in Bus, be closed.
According to Tornel, this is due to the fact that the City Council has not sufficiently envisaged the award of a new contract for the management of this Office, since the previous one, in charge of the company ESATUR, ended this Monday, July 31.
For the councilman, this "precariousness" in the tourist information resources in the municipality, which has spread to other spaces such as the Visitor Center of La Luz and San Antonio El Pobre, contrasts with the announcements of events that the team Of government displays daily.
"It takes a clear effort to provide the tourism service with human resources and improve the working conditions of the staff that attends both tourist information offices and visitor centers."
The mayor of the municipal training has also considered that the tourism service of the City of Murcia should be the one who plans the management of information points, visitor centers, places of interest and events, and that is a body Public with the capacity to hire own personnel who is in charge of the execution of the tourist plan of the municipality.
This would be, in his opinion, to promote a "coherent policy" if the City Council is really planning to expand the range of activities and projects that are attractive to tourism, such as the recovery of the San Esteban site, the Molinos de la Huerta, the Monteagudo palatial complex Or the argárico deposit of Beniaján.
Two different contracts
Tornel has drawn attention to the fact that two different companies take care of the tourist information points of the city, one for the Belluga square and the other for Gran Via and Jardin Floridablanca.
"It does not make sense to atomize the service in a multitude of contracts with different entities," he said.
