The Municipal Board of Puente Tocinos (Murcia) has convened a Short Story Competition, which takes on the name of the famous personage of our community, José Travel, also known as "Trovero Repuntín".
The theme will be free, with an extension between 5 and 10 pages, written in Spanish.
The participants will have to be older than 18 years, in addition to acquiring the commitments established in the bases, which can be consulted in the facebook Municipal Board of Tocinos Bridge or the Bulletin Board of the Cultural Center of Puente Tocinos, with deadline for presentation on November 15, 2017
The winner of the contest will be awarded with 1000 euros, while the second story will be with 500 euros and a second prize with 250 euros.
The concession will be made by the Peña La Crilla Association, as a member of the Culture Committee of the aforementioned Municipal Board, which this year has performed various acts in tribute to the "Trovero Reputín".
This contest has a double purpose.
On the one hand, to pay homage to one of the most illustrious figures of the Trojan Murciano, and on the other hand, to associate the memory of the former Official Chronicler of Tocinos Bridge, with the promotion of literary creativity.
José Travel Montoya "El Repuntin", born in 1928 in the hamlet of Puente Tocinos, began his journey as a trovero at the early age of 11 years, becoming over the years one of the most learned in the history of the thunder Spanish.
This has been recorded through his participation in countless bouts of thunderstorms and the achievement of the highest awards of the art of repentization have been granted.
It had a natural quality to shape improvised popular poetry from a certain idea, and to develop it in rhyme according to the rules that govern Spanish poetry.
His spontaneity, the rhythm and grace of his trovos made him a reference of this art.
He also excelled in his role as a writer, initiated with his first book of poetry "Poems of the life mass" published in 1988, followed by "Rezumos" "Murcia verso a verse", "Portraits and passages of my life", as well The novel "The Spirit of the Tower", stories such as "Adventures of Captain Kiko", and also the historical book "Bridge Tocinos, past and present", a decisive study for the knowledge of the origins and traditions of this borough of Murcia.
His career was recognized by the City of Murcia with the appointment of "Favorite Son of Murcia" in 2014. Also his hometown, Puente Tocinos, was able to recognize his art and dedication to it, by putting his name on a street and exposing his effigy In a monolith located in the "Winged Garden" of the Murcian hamlet.
