The groups of PSOE and Cambiemos Murcia will defend in the plenary of the month of July an initiative that again addresses the problem of the Polygon of La Paz.
Once again, both registered a motion to urge the Ballesta government to reactivate urban and social rehabilitation work in the area.
PSOE and Cambiemos Murcia request the PP government to convene as soon as possible a meeting of the Bureau of Labor of the Polygon of La Paz "to give an account of the municipal reports on the social, housing and urban situation of the Polygon of La Paz."
In addition, the initiative contemplates the modification of the PERI (Special Plan of Interior Reform) to incorporate new criteria that take into account, as a priority, "the public impulse necessary for the rehabilitation of the neighborhood and facilitate a real and feasible urban intervention" .
Last October 2016, the municipal groups PSOE and Cambiemos Murcia already submitted a motion to the Plenum of the City Council, which was unanimously approved, in which the agreements included the incorporation in the City Strategy Murcia 2020 of a rehabilitation project Urban and social integration of the Polygon of Peace that had its own funds;
The launching of a plural work table that, considering the project presented to the EDUSI program, to study ways of financing the necessary actions in the neighborhood and the realization of a final proposal in the first half of 2017.
At the end of last June, an initiative was also presented for the distribution of the € 17.5 million EDUSI plan to take into account, as a matter of priority, actions committed in other plenary sessions of the current legislature, including Those related to the Polygon of Peace.
"Although the motion was not approved, we maintain our commitment to focus economic efforts on the most needy areas of the municipality, such as this neighborhood," said PSOE councilors Enrique Ayuso and Cambiemos Murcia, Nacho Tornel.
They also add that "after two years of the legislature there has been no real progress, so it is necessary to take effective consideration of urban rehabilitation and social support."
Therefore, another of the points that both groups will defend in the Plenary is to urge the Autonomous Community to order all public housing under its jurisdiction located in the Polygon of Peace, in terms of the state in which Are (occupied or free) and their living conditions.
They also demand that they carry out all the necessary actions to improve the neighborhood.
