The City Council, through the Department of Development, continues to work to improve the accessibility of public transport in the municipality.
The council that runs Roque Ortiz has approved a program of subsidies for taxi drivers who have renewed this year their vehicle adapted for people with reduced mobility.
The individual maximum amount will be 6,000 euros for the acquisition of adapted vehicle and 4,500 euros for processing and its beneficiaries may request it voluntarily, provided they have proceeded to renew the car during the current year.
Taxi drivers applying for aid to finance increases in the cost of operating tailor-made vehicles (fuel consumption, cost of ramp repairs, safety harnesses and wheelchairs, as well as repair services and compulsory passenger insurance) Can obtain up to 4,000 euros per request.
Taxi drivers who have purchased a new adapted vehicle and receive this assistance will not be able to have another grant to renew their car for up to four years, except in the case of an accident resulting from a total loss.
In this way, the policy that has been developing since 2012, when the ONCE Foundation concluded its financing program for the adaptation of auto taxi vehicles, has been maintained and, as a result, there are now 42 licenses Of adapted taxis, being one of the largest fleets in Spain.
