From July 17 to 20, the third edition of the course "Cinema and the Humanities: didactic orientations in the classroom and in other areas" is celebrated.
It will be in the Regional Film Library Francisco Rabal, within the activities of the International University of the Sea-Campus Mare Nostrum, summer courses organized by the University of Murcia.
The address is given by José Hernández Rubio, Doctor of Humanities at the Carlos III University of Madrid, and Carlos Salas González, Professor of the Department of Art History at the University of Murcia.
For the course directors, films can greatly reinforce humanities subjects because "the power of the cinematographic image can perfectly illustrate certain social and cultural contexts that have been studied theoretically and are unavoidable in the baggage of our civilization" .
As in the previous editions, this one intends to explain the pedagogy of the cinema through fragments of good films, it is a question of using the efficacy of the cinema from its ludic and cultural perspective, The initiative will comprise fragments of films so well-known as "The cabinet of the Dr. Caligari "by Robert Wiene;
"Moulin rouge" by John Huston;
"Ingmar Bergman's maiden fountain;" The Great Dictator "or" The Chihiro Journey "by M. Miyazaki.
The course is marked to comment on the didactic value of the cinema for the teaching of various subjects, especially for those related to the Humanities because of its affinity and large number of films made and to offer a working method to extract the teaching that derives from each movie.
Some didactic questions will be given in an orientative way, to analyze the object of study through the most representative cinematographic sequences.
The course is aimed at teachers and students of Education, History, Art, Philology, Philosophy, Music, Sociology, Pedagogy, Politics, Social Work and people interested in topics.
It has a duration of 25 hours, and students enrolled will receive 2.5 credits of free configuration and 1 ECTS credit - CRAU.
