For the second consecutive year the city of Murcia will join the initiative "Walk for Freedom", to be held on October 14 organized with the aim of raising awareness against human trafficking.
On October 15, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., people around the world will join a movement to abolish modern slavery step by step.
Conchita Ruiz, Councilor for Social Rights, held a meeting this morning with representatives of the NGO A21 along with the association MUAP that assists women victims of gender violence, and drivers of the initiative, to know the details of this fourth edition that Will have the collaboration of the City of Murcia.
The event is not seen as a protest but as a silent and simple line of people walking through the nearly 27 million men, women and children who are still trapped in slavery today.
On this occasion there are 12 Spanish provinces that join the nearly 300 cities around the world that will raise the voice against human trafficking.
It is expected that 40 countries will join the initiative.
Last year, more than 300 walks took place in 40 different countries around the world.
There were more than 12,000 participants and reached about 45 million people through social networks.
Conchita Ruiz stressed the importance of this day to "raise awareness and bring about a change in the fight against trafficking in persons, especially against human trafficking for the purpose of sexual exploitation.
The route will have its origin in the Circular Square towards Gran Vía, advanced to Glorieta España, Belluga Plaza Cardinal, Santo Domingo Square, Alfonso X el Sabio Avenue and culminate again in the Circular Square.
