A total of 12 groups from Spain, Mexico and China participate in the XXI edition of the International Contest of Tunas "Barrio del Carmen", which will be held on 6, 7 and 8 July in the Barracks of Artillery.
About 300 people will participate in the contest and will perform rounds and parades in different areas of the city inviting the Murcia to join this great spectacle.
The entrance is free and every night there will be tastings and surprises for the attendees.
The two prizes awarded by the Contest have been awarded this year by Rebeca Pe'rez, Councilor for Youth and Development Cooperation of the City of Murcia, as Madrina, and in Jose' Antonio Cobacho, exrector of the University of Murcia, As Grand Master.
The extraordinary concert of this edition will be an international premiere, a production of the festival called 'Panchos Sinfónico: Bolero a Murcia', where Rafael Basurto, the voice of Los Panchos, together with the Symphonic Orchestra of the Regio 'N of Murcia and the District Tuna of the University of Murcia will offer an unprecedented spectacle and format to date.
This event will review the history of the bolero through his greatest exponents (Los Panchos) and his last voice, orchestrated as never before had been done.
The announcement poster is the work of the photographe Joaqui'n Zamora, being the first time that this technique has been used as an artistic basis.
The Contest features the emblem of the Spanish Brand, a distinction of the High Commissioner under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs who has considered giving support to the project and joining its international projection plans.
This event was created 20 years ago (1997), and its nearly 3,000 participants from 116 groups from 63 cities, 11 countries and 3 continents make it the second single event of the Region (together To the International Festival of Cante de las Minas) in having this consideration.
As a sign of his determined internationalization, the presence of this year's Singing Tuna (Guangzhou, China) is particularly noteworthy, as he travels expressly to Murcia to make his official presentation.
The festival will be able to follow live through Facebook and Youtube - certunasmurcia -, thanks to the technical support of the University of Murcia.
The contest, organized by the District Tuna of the University of Murcia, has the collaboration of the City Council, the University of Murcia, the Regional Government and the Spanish Brand, as well as with the sponsorship of El Corte Ingle's, Estrella Of Levante, STV, Bodegas Juan Gil, Fundacio'n Cajamurcia and Coca-Cola.
