Urbanism continues the process to update its technical teams for the management and renewal of the cartography of the municipality.
This morning, the Governing Board has awarded the provision of a GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) device, also known as GPS (Global Positioning System).
This team, together with the dron that has already been tendered and the photogrammetric station that will soon start the hiring procedure, is part of the investment made by the City Council in the Central Cartography and Urban Information Service with two fundamental objectives:
- At first, the GPS and the photogrammetric station will allow checking the quality of the new municipal cartographic base, which is also about to be tendered.
- Then, and adding the dron, it will be possible to realize punctual and local updates of the previous cartographic base.
In addition to these uses, the GPS or GNSS will be used to carry out measurements, topographic surveys, observation and maintenance of the municipal topographic network, stakeouts, cubicle checks, rope strips, etc.
In short, any operation that entails obtaining geographic information from the terrain (surveys), and / or transferring it to the same (stake out).
The GPS uses the constellations NAVSTAR (from the USA) and the GLONASS (from Russia) satellites and, via the Internet, uses the two stations of Active Geodesy of the Region of Murcia, both from the Ministry of Planning of the Territory called REGAM), and the Ministry of Agriculture (MERISTEMUM).
The level of precision that is obtained in real time with this type of instrument is of the order of 3-6 cm.
But, used in post-processing, the precision can become sub-millimeter.
This new GPS, which is acquired as a renewal and support of the existing one, will be supplied within a month by Al-top Topography, with a cost of 29,645 euros.
