"New sexual and reproductive health care and support for the full implementation of the United Nations Convention (CDPD)" is the title of the course programmed by the International University of the Sea-Campus Mare Nostrum that attempts to address the autoerotic dimension and desire to Through the figure of the sexual assistant, from a perspective of Duman Rights and equal opportunities for people with functional diversity, especially those who need permanent human support.
Spain ratified the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in 2007, which established that persons with disabilities were entitled to equal opportunities for intimate and sexual relations.
Those responsible for the course affirm that "people with functional diversity should and can exercise the right to their sexuality", and for this, the great challenge is not only to promote a new culture in this subject, but also to provide the necessary support for Its free exercise (technical and human), as it is the case of this new figure of the sexual assistant.
The course will provide participants with the knowledge and tools that contribute to deconstruct the hegemonic discourses that have been generated around the sexuality of people with functional diversity, generate reflection on the role of the sexual assistant according to the approaches of the Convention and give visibility And protagonism to people with functional diversity.
It is directed by Nuria Illán Romeu, Professor of the Faculty of Education and Director of the Center for Studies on Disability and Promotion of Personal Autonomy (DIPAP), University of Murcia, and Soledad Arnau Ripollés, Director of the Open Ibero-American University "Manue Lobato" (UAIML-IPADEVI).
The course has a duration of 25 hours and those who study it will be entitled to 2.5 Credits of free configuration or a Credit CRAU.
