The City of Murcia through the Department of Social Rights and in particular the Family and Social Initiative Section, maintains its collaboration agreement with the Federation of Deaf People of the Region of Murcia, FESORMU.

Thanks to this agreement, an annual grant is awarded to carry out its project "Program for the Development of the Autonomy of Deaf and Deafblind People in the Municipality of Murcia".

The amount in 2017 of this aid is 13,000 euros.

On the occasion of the National Day of Sign Language, FESORMU, today held a commemorative event in which Councilor Conchita Ruiz was present who recalled "the commitment of the City of Murcia with these people and the initiatives and projects adopted to achieve their Full inclusion in our society and total accessibility to municipal spaces.Thus we seek to strengthen and give continuity to the services of Sign language interpreters in all areas of social life in order to engage the deaf In the activities of the municipality ".

During 2017 the Federation of Deaf People of the Region of Murcia held more than 30 events in collaboration with the City Council.
