Workshops, guided tours, exhibitions and a route through the garden is part of the programming of this first edition, which will be held from 10 to 13 hours.
Antonio Navarro explains that the proposal aims to create a meeting space between the cycling community, while continuing with activities to promote sustainable mobility.
The hamlet of Torreagüera will host next Saturday the first edition of Bicifest Murcia, a new event organized by the City Council around the bicycle, whose content this morning presented the Councilor for Urbanism, Environment and Huerta, Antonio Navarro, accompanied By Fulgencio Perona, president of the Municipal Board of Torreagüera, Raúl Jiménez, president of the Cycling Association Bicihuerta and Adrián Moreno, Bicinómada.
From 10 am to 1 pm, activities will be offered for both adults and children, as well as information on cycling road education and workshops to teach cycling and skills to bike riders.
The day will conclude with a cycle route through the garden.
To ensure the success of this initiative, the Municipal Bicycle Office has the support and collaboration of the General Traffic Department, Cycling Federation, bicycle associations, workshops and bicycle sales companies.
In addition, the participation of educational centers and parents' associations has been promoted, with the aim of creating a cyclist awareness from childhood, so that society becomes aware of the importance of sustainable mobility and of having a Better road education, based on respect for the cyclist and knowledge of the rules of circulation.
The activities that will be carried out during the Bicifest include workshops to learn how to cycle in the city in which it is taught to correctly signal the maneuvers and to have an adequate security attitude on the public road making us respect and respect;
Skills circuits to acquire basic skills to improve driving and drive the bike more safely (turns, balance, surface changes, obstacles, emergency braking, etc.);
DGT talks on road education to learn the basic concepts and rules of traffic;
Bicycle mechanics workshops to teach the basic maintenance of bicycles;
Bicycle exhibitions;
Demonstrations;
etc.
It will be finished with a cycle route through the orchard to which all the participants will be invited.
This first edition of Bicifest Murcia aims to "create spaces of encounter between the growing cycling community and the city itself," explained Antonio Navarro, who also highlights the desire of the Council to "disseminate the use of cycling as a key part of sustainable mobility , Demonstrating that their promotion as a habitual means of transportation is improving the cities and the way we relate to them.
This activity is the result of several meetings with cycling associations and compliance with the agreement of the last meeting of the Bicycle Observatory, in addition to providing information on road education for cyclists, holding workshops to teach to circulate and acquire skills to the Bicycle controls.
The next event of this nature will be held in the city of Murcia in September, coinciding with the European Mobility Week.
