The Local Police of Murcia has arrested the alleged perpetrator of the continuous burning of containers on the public road in recent months, especially in the neighborhoods of Santa Maria de Gracia and Vista Alegre.
To this end, a police device was established that last Sunday, June 4, allowed a local police unit to observe at 4:15 a.m., in María Zambrano street a young man who, arriving at the confluence with Isla Cristina street, Where there was a group of containers, opened a recycling paper throwing something inside.
The young man continued the march towards the Avenue of Prince of Asturias, and, when arriving at the confluence with the Place Island Columbrete, reopened another container throwing something inside and going away to the race.
The two agents went to the two groups of containers, not being able to avoid that the first one began to burn and the fire transferred to the other two, being necessary the action of firemen to extinguish the fire.
The second group of containers did not blaze thanks to the immediate action of a local policeman, who took from inside a device that was burning on a cardboard box and papers.
After facilitating the physical characteristics and clothes that the young man mentioned, several Local Police units began their persecution reaching him in the confluence of the street Miguel de Cervantes with street Don Quijote, proceeding to its arrest and transfer to Commissary of District of San Andrés .
The detainee, with initials SGP, is 19 years old, is born and is from Murcia, and is probably involved in the continuous burning of 55 containers produced in Murcia in recent months.
The approximate value of its replacement that is in charge of the Department of Development, directed by Roque Ortiz, is 44,000 euros, to which must be added the costs of cleaning.
According to the data handled by the council, from January to May 2016 108 containers were burned, increasing this figure to 188 in the same period of 2017.
The Road Cleaning Service and the concessionaire company report the facts to the Police every time there is a burning of a container.

Prior to the arrest, on April 25th, this young man was identified by a local police unit as he was near the place where some containers were burning, stating that he was a student in the city of Cartagena.
After contacting by telephone with the Local Police of that municipality, they said that on working days near the university residence where the young person resides a notable increase of the container fires occurred, and even one dawn was identified in the vicinity of one of those fires.
From Monday to Thursday there was an important pyromaniac activity in Cartagena and Friday and weekends this same activity was produced in Murcia.
