With the help of the Urban DNA project, 12 actions are taken, obtained from the neighborhood participation, to turn it into a used and friendly space.
The market of Saavedra Fajardo is also subject to a dozen measures, with the objective of inviting people to access it, showing a modern face of this square of supplies, whose façade will be painted a large mural.
Twelve punctual performances are taking place in the Plaza de Europa and in the market square of Saavedra Fajardo with the aim of no longer being an uncomfortable and underused space and become, on the one hand, a friendly square and Neighborhood use and, on the other, in a modern market that invites access.
For this, the process of neighborhood participation has been fundamental that has been carried out within the Urban DNA Project promoted by the City Council in the neighborhood of Santa Eulalia.
From its suggestions, and backed by the necessary technical support, the transformation of the Plaza de Europa and the market will be a fact in the coming days.
This was explained today by the councilors responsible for this intervention, José Guillén, head of Modernization of Administration, Urban Quality and Participation, and Maruja Pelegrín, Councilor for Trade and Institutional Relations.
"In the Municipal Government we know what we want to do and we know what we want to achieve, but we still have more clear how we want to do it, and it is always with the premise of neighborhood participation.
That is why this intervention we are presenting today, which has been designed and created with the suggestions and requests of the citizens, is especially satisfactory, "said Guillén.
As for the square, a fundamental measure to reactivate it will be the placement of a kindergarten next to the municipal building, to give solution to the needs and games of the smallest of the neighborhood.
Its installation also aims to revitalize the square, inviting people to stay in it.
Likewise, the terraces of the cafeterias will be transferred to the right side of the square, located under a large pergola that will be placed shading the square.
As for the technological section, a Smart City, will install an open WIFI point that will provide coverage and internet throughout the square, as well as an intelligent pedestrian crossing to improve road safety from the side of the church of San Lorenzo to the square.
Thus, the 12 measures designed for this environment are specified in:

Installation of dynamic led lighting in pergola.

On the other hand, to encourage the use of the market of Saavedra and Fajardo and the commerce that concentrates will proceed to dynamize the surroundings, inviting people to access it, showing a modern face of this square of supplies.
"Our fundamental interest is to maximize the commercial activity in the square and we are aware that an important way to do this is to attract people to the inside because, once inside, the quality of the service and the product it offers are a guarantee of success "Said Maruja Pelegrín.
For this reason, an exterior renovation will be carried out with the painting of a large mural on the wall leading to the Plaza de Europa, which will provide a modern, fresh and avant-garde air in the line of European urban artistic performances.
In addition, in the C / Selgas that serves the side of the market of Saavedra Fajardo, the pergolas located in this entrance will be eliminated, in this way, the market opens to the street, expanding its gastronomic and hotel use.
In order to achieve this 'enlargement' of the exterior of the market, wooden stands will be installed in this street which borders on the Plaza de Europa, which will serve as furniture for those consumers who participate in the market, either as a gastronomic or a stay.
