The second edition of the robotics competition and 'Play Factory Space Challenge 2017' will take place on Saturday, June 3 at 10 am in the Prince of Asturias Pavilion.
This event will show the projects of extracurricular activities where more than 40 schools and 650 children participated in primary and secondary education, with Play Factory, company responsible for providing this training in schools.
In this free competition, which is expected to attend more than a thousand families, skills in the field of robotics learned during the course are tested in three categories: space projects for preschool children, the 'Sumo' challenge Space NXT 'where they will perform a robot fight and the space challenge EV3 where the small ones will present 7 missions that the robots that have created have to execute.
In this edition the children compete with the robots that they have manufactured or that will manufacture during the championship and that they have programmed during the last quarter in their schools.
In addition this edition will collaborate the Finnish company Fun Academy and the project Space Nation, main sponsors of the event, that will realize the delivery of trophies.
The aim of this initiative is to train students and teachers in this area and bring them closer to the language of programming and new technologies.
The Councilor for Modernization of Administration, Urban Quality and Participation, José Guillén, explained that "initiatives like this move the youngest interest in new technologies knowing from childhood that its application in everyday life is changing society" .
For his part, Councilor for Education and Heritage, Rafael Gomez, has indicated that "educational robotics is of the utmost importance as it encourages schoolchildren, helps them interact with their peers and fosters their creativity."
