Councilors of all political groups and workers of the different services of the City of Murcia have kept this respectful minute of silence this morning as a sign of repulsion and condemnation before the last case of male-dominated violence in the Region, which occurred yesterday in Molina de Segura.
Conchita Ruiz, Councilor for Social Rights has lamented this new murder and expressed "the total solidarity of the City with the family of the girl. We must continue to take decisive steps to eradicate this social scourge, reinforcing political collaboration and protocols of action of Our professionals, from prevention and education with the smallest ".
Attention in the municipality
From January 1 to May 25, 131 women have been assisted by EMAVI, the Gender Violence Care Team, of which 58% are from Murcia and 42% from a foreign source.
One of every three aggressors is the pair while in the rest of the cases it is the pair.
The average age of women assisted is 37 years and the majority have primary education and two children in their care.
In addition, 3 women are currently housed in foster homes, with 4 children under the age of 7 years old.
Also this year have been reinforced the resources that from the Department of Social Rights are intended to care for victims with two new shelters in which to assist women and their children in case of gender violence.
EMAVI work
The EMAVI is the multidisciplinary team of the City of Murcia for the integral attention to the women in situation of gender violence of the municipality of Murcia and is composed by the Head of the Section of Woman, as coordinator, Legal Adviser, Psychologist, four Social Educators and a Social Worker.
At present there are two shelters and a ward with municipal ownership, subsidized by the Directorate General of Women of the Autonomous Community of Murcia, whose purpose is to provide accommodation, protection and specialized treatment for women and their children who need Leave their habitual homes because of gender violence.
It has the following areas of action:
- Direct attention to women in situation of gender violence, through orientation, specialized professional advice and accompaniment in their personal and social process.
- Welcoming the affected women and their children, when there are situations of risk to their integrity or by characteristics of special vulnerability that require it.
- Actions and campaigns aimed at raising the awareness of citizens, municipal staff, and other groups and entities for the prevention and eradication of violence against women in their various manifestations.
- Coordination and collaboration with the Regional and National network of attention on gender violence
With this, it is possible to fully and from a multidisciplinary approach to women victims of gender violence to guide and support them in the process of overcoming this situation, in addition to preventing violence against women through different awareness activities.
