Mula Film Week pays homage to actor Simón Andreu, protagonist of almost a hundred and fifty films (25/05/2017)

From May 28 to June 3, Mula hosts the XXIX Spanish Film Week and the XXIV National Short Film Contest.

It is an initiative organized by the Cinema Club Segundo de Chomón and the municipality of that town and in which the University of Murcia, the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, the ICA and the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport participate.

The initiative was presented this afternoon at the Rectorate of the UMU, with the participation of Juan Jesús Moreno, Mayor of Mula;

Martín del Toro, President of the Cinema Club and Director of Film Week;

Marta López Briones, Director General of the Institute of General Industries and Arts of CARM;

Cristina Sánchez and Pascual Vera, Coordinator and Head of Communication of the UMU, and Clara García Solano, author of the poster.

According to Martín del Toro, Director of Film Week, "this edition takes place on a special date, as this year marks the 30th anniversary of the founding of the Cine-Club Segundo de Chomón de Mula", organizer of the event.

For a whole week, the festival will host different film screenings, contests and tributes through which Spanish cinema will approach the whole muleña society and visitors.

Simón Andreu: our most international actor

The film festival will pay a special tribute this year to Simon Andreu, a prominent actor with about a hundred and fifty films.

Andreu was one of the first actors that worked in the international cinema, intervening in films to the orders of Luciano Ercoli, Milos Forman or Paul Verhoeven.

He was the first Spanish to play in a James Bond movie "Die Another Day," by Lee Tamahori.

In the Spanish cinema he worked under the orders of Aranda, Roberto Bodegas, Nieves Conde, Leon Klimowsky, José Luis Garci, Vicente Escrivá, Bardem, Fernán Gómez, Pilar Miró, Mario Camus ..., and especially with Jose Antonio de la Loma, with Who made films like "The Last Strokes of El Torete", and Eloy de la Iglesia with whom he filmed some of the best known films, such as "Game of Forbidden Love", "The Other Bedroom", The Hidden Pleasures, Or "The minister's wife".

Some of their titles will be screened during the festival.

Andreu will visit Mula on the occasion of the closing of the Spanish Film Week next Saturday, June 3, in which he will pay the tribute.

The Lope de Vega Theater will be the main stage of the week.

In it will be projected every day, starting at 20 hours, the short films participating in the contest followed by a current film at a popular price of € 2.

Among the programmed titles is 'The invisible guardian', '100 meters', 'The Bar', 'May God forgive us', 'The lighthouse of the orcas' or 'Escape plan'.

On Friday, June 2, coinciding with the screening of the film 'Plan de fuga', Molina will be the actress Lucia Álvarez, who will spend the whole morning talking about cinema with local schoolchildren.

The initiative is part of the project 'Secretos del cine', which began last year and was very well received through a chat-colloquium between school children and the actress.

Short film competition

The National Competition of Short Films has featured in this edition with a large number of participants from all over the country.

There have been 180 short films presented, of which twelve have been selected to access the awards given each year by the jury.

The short film festival awards a prize of € 2,000 for the short film chosen by the Jury, which includes the participation of actresses, technicians, critics and film specialists.

Likewise, the spectators of the Film Week will be the ones who decide the Special Prize of the Public endowed with 1.000 €.

The best animated short will receive a prize of € 500, as will the Young Prize, whose winner will be decided by the youngsters of Middle Schools of the locality.

The jury also establishes an award for Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Screenplay, Best Director and Best Cinematography.

Morning school screenings

The Cine-Club Segundo de Chomón, in its work of disseminating Spanish cinema, aims to reach all segments of the population with films aimed at the adult, young and children.

To this end the morning screenings are organized, this time with the release of the movie 'Justin'.

In each edition, the festival pays tribute to Spanish filmmakers.

In Memoriam honorees this year are Alicia Agut, Amparo Valle, Eduardo Machi, Emma Cohen and Francisco Pérez Dolz.

Film Week will screen this afternoon at 8 pm at the Centrofama cinemas in the capital, the preview of the movie 'A thousand things I would do for you', a film by Didac Cervera that will serve as the starting point for Film Week .

Poster of a muleña designer

The author of the poster illustrator of the XXIX Spanish Film Week of Mula is the work of the muleña Clara García Soriano, graduated in Fine Arts by the University of Murcia and trained at the "Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera" in Milan.

He is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Design and Illustration from the Polytechnic University of Valencia.

Combining with his studies, he did not want to miss the opportunity to illustrate this festival for which he has combined illustration, photography and design, and taking into account values ​​such as functionality, cleanliness and freshness, creating a scene where the fundamental elements of cinema ' Lights, Camera and Action 'become the main protagonists of this poster.
