A universal Murcia, Francisco Salzillo and Alcaraz, will be the Favorite Son of Murcia, whose 310th anniversary has recently been celebrated.
This was approved unanimously by the Plenum of the City Council held today, which has adopted the agreement to start the file as established by the regulations of Honors and Distinctions.
In this way, the city will pay homage and make a public recognition of the famous Spanish imager, whose name is deeply linked to the Holy Week of Murcia and, in particular, the procession of Good Friday, pending recognition by Unesco as Heritage Cultural of Humanity.
Salzillo is also a unique figure of the culture of the Region of Murcia, since the museum dedicated to his work is one of the most visited by tourists, due in large part to its content as an international reference In baroque imagery and in the sacred art of Europe.
