The Faculty of the University of Murcia, which met Wednesday in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, has discussed extensively on the project of transferring administrative units of the Rectorate and various general services to the campus of Espinardo.

The session began with the information that both the rector, Jose Orihuela, and the Vice Chancellor of Economy, Sustainability and Health Sciences, José María Abellán, have offered about the plans planned and that will be transferred next Friday to the Governing Council Of the University for approval.

Professor Abellán recalled that the rehabilitation works to be carried out in the building of the Faculty of Medicine to host the services to be transferred represent an amount, in terms of the type of tender, of 14.3 million euros.

And added that in view of the average casualties that have been obtained in the competitions that are called, it is expected that in this project could get in the award a drop of about 25 percent.

The total of the works would be developed in four phases, over five years, which, he pointed out, allows flexibility in the achievement of precise funds.

If you opted for the possibility of demolishing the building and building another, the cost would have been six million more than the rehabilitation costs.

He also pointed out that the works will allow the building to provide technical requirements that were not required when it was built and different improvements.

Following the report, there has been a wide-ranging debate involving representatives of the groups present at the Faculty, who have expressed their opinion on the advisability of carrying out the transfer, on the administrative services that should be affected and also between Others, about the destiny that will be given to the Convalescence building.

With respect to this last subject, the rector has indicated that his destiny will continue being university and that will continue like building of institutional representation of the University.
