The RefugiUM Plan of the University of Murcia (UMU) has been put as an example of good practices in the Plenary of Internationalization and Cooperation of the Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities (CRUE) held in Lleida.
The University of Murcia was invited to present the Plan for the Spanish Service for the Internationalization of Education (SEPIE), as it understands this agency of the Ministry that UMU has one of the most complete comprehensive plans that are being developed in the field of Higher Education in Spain.
The meeting took place within the framework of the Erasmus OLS initiative aimed at offering online language courses for refugees and thus contributing to the integration of these courses into the European university system.
The UMU is the Spanish university that most licenses the OLS program, which is coordinating the RefugiUM Plan in collaboration with the Accem, Red Cross, Cepaim and Murcia Acoge organizations.
During the meeting, the international project coordinating the UMU for awareness-raising, training and research on asylum and refuge was also presented.
Participating in the project, funded by SEPIE, are the universities of Salerno (Italy), Lund (Sweden) and ISCTE-IUL (Portugal).
The RefugiUM Plan was presented by a UMU delegation headed by the Vice-Rector for Coordination and Internationalization, Bernardo Cascales, and made up of members of the International Relations Area.
