The Councilor for Town Planning, Environment and Huerta, Antonio Navarro, today participated in the forum of the CIVINET Spain-Portugal Network on sustainable mobility that was held in Valencia.
His intervention will be about how the City of Murcia is working to promote urban displacement by sustainable means.
Under the motto 'The City for People', Navarro will speak at a round table with councilors and mayors from cities of both countries - Santander, Irún Pontevedra, Cascais and Funchal - in which issues have been addressed Such as the use of the electric vehicle or the impulse to use the bicycle or to walk.
The Navarro exhibition has allowed to share the local strategy of the electric vehicle in Murcia and the Bicycle Action Plan, which provides for the construction of 20 km of new segregated bike lanes.
In addition, other related issues have been addressed, such as the safety of cyclists and the measures that can be taken to combat the vandalism of MUyBiCI public service bicycles, which has 600 units, 60 stations , 8,000 users and an average of 82,000 monthly trips.
On the other hand, the local strategy of the electric vehicle has been developed as a result of a participatory and inclusive process, of which 50 measures and a budget of 180,000 euros have been defined for this year.
The CIVITAS Spain and Portugal network is a network for Local Authorities in Spain and Portugal, which is also open to so-called associate members, such as Universities, Transportation Authorities, Technology Centers or Private Companies with interests in Sustainable Mobility.
With the participation of the European Commission, this is the only network at the state level that includes all aspects of sustainable mobility, energy savings and emission reduction through reducing the impact on climate change, Cost of Transport and Mobility and the improvement of health and air quality.
In addition, Murcia holds the position of vice president in the CIVINET Network.
