The Monastery of Los Jerónimos will host Wednesday at 9:30 the International Congress of Mariology entitled "Mary, Mother of Mercy".
Experts such as Cardinal Rouco Varela, the prefect of the Congregation for Catholic Education, Cardinal Giuseppe Versaldi, and the emeritus bishop of Fatima, Serafim de Sousa will analyze different aspects of the figure of the Virgin Mary.
During the three days of the congress, topics such as the study of the Virgin's life will be analyzed, as reflected in the Gospels, interpretations of Marian dogmas and doctrines, the nature of the Virgin Mary in her role In Salvation, their advocations and how their veneration or worship should be performed.
The Congress begins at 9:30 a.m. with the celebration of the Eucharist in which the relics of the Holy Shepherds of Fatima will be received, two of which have been sanctified by Pope Francis this weekend during his visit To Portugal.
The official opening will be at 10:30 am where the president of the UCAM, José Luis Mendoza, the archbishop emeritus of Madrid, Cardinal Antonio Maria Rouco Varela, the bishop of the Diocese of Cartagena José Manuel Lorca Planes and the president of the Pontifical International Marian Academy.
Presentations
The first lecture will be at 12:00 noon and will be in charge of the cardinal Antonio Maria Rouco Varela, on the life of Mary in the Church.
The archbishop emeritus of Seville, Cardinal Carlos Amigo, will speak on the presence of Mary in the life of St. Francis of Assisi, or the prefect of the Congregation for Catholic Education, Cardinal Giuseppe Versaldi, who will present theories on the Evangelization and Catholic university.
The emeritus bishop of Fatima, Serafim de Sousa will give the conference "Pastoral experience in Fatima".
The President of the Pontifical International Marian Academy, Estefano Cecchin will give a conference entitled "Mary in the History of Salvation" and the Patriarch of Antioch and of all the East, Ignace Youssiff III Younan will present on the presence of the Virgin Mary in the liturgy and the Syrian Church.
Likewise, the conference of the journalist and investigator of the apparitions of Fatima, Jaime Vilalta entitled "The strength of God in human weakness: The shepherds of Fatima" is highlighted in the activity panel.

During the Congress will be present the Image of the Virgin of Fatima that during last week toured the streets of Murcia.
A procession that concluded in the square of Cardinal Belluga, where a Eucharist presided by archbishop Emeritus of Burgos, Francisco Gil Hellín was celebrated.
The Congress ends this Friday, May 19, with the Procession of Our Lady of Fatima on the streets of Cartagena, which will conclude with the Eucharist presided over by the prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, Cardinal Gerhard Ludwing Müller.
