The Government Board has approved a project to prevent gender violence in Secondary Education centers in the municipality thanks to which training, information and awareness actions are programmed to prevent male domination and violence in the relationships of the adolescent population And youth.
In this way, we work in the educational environment itself, including teachers and families, to eradicate gender violence in the adolescent and youth population.
In addition, the dissemination of the project and the participation of the educational community and professionals in radio programs amplify the positive impact for gender equality, the detection of macho attitudes and behaviors and, therefore, the early prevention of possible situations of violence against women.
This initiative is divided into two different and interconnected actions: on the one hand, the development of two different types of workshops in 9 of the 18 Secondary Education Centers that requested the realization of this project for the current school year, and on the other hand, The realization of a monthly radio program on the Onda Regional radio station.
The workshops in the schools are composed of two programs of 12 sessions each, lasting 50 minutes per session, taught by two specialist techniques in gender equality and prevention of sexist violence, with specialized training in the areas Of Social Sciences, Psychology and Education.
The project is developed through dynamics in the classroom and the projection of two films per group.
The methodology used is intended to promote reflection, knowledge and critical thinking.
The machismo, on examination
The first program, called 'Machismo a examen' aims at understanding and reflecting on gender stereotypes, analyzing how they are constructed and reproduced, as well as the awareness of sexist behaviors, thoughts and attitudes, with the purpose of modifying them And / or eliminate them.
It is realized in the IES Alfonso X, School San José, IES Miguel de Cervantes, IES Miguel Espinosa and IES Beniaján.
The second program, called 'Love in the Lab', seeks to address love relationships, love and gender roles in these relationships, to analyze the origin of the behaviors of domination and violence and to be able to prevent and eradicate them.
It is held at the IES Mariano Baquero, Antonio Nebrija College, Ays College, IES Beniaján and IES Ramón y Cajal.
As for the radio programs, which will be carried out until November 2017 in the educational centers where the project is being developed, it will be reinforced with tertulia programs carried out in the studies of the Onda Regional de Murcia radio station, which will be invited to Professionals, policy makers and experts in the field of education in equality, gender equality and prevention of gender-based violence.
The day after the programs are issued, informative bulletins of the resources for attention to gender violence will be issued, on what to do and where to go to receive support and information, spreading the telephones of the Department of Social Rights, the service Municipal public of attention to violence of gender of the City council of Murcia and the services of attention to situations of urgency due to the violence of sort through 112.
