The sectoral group Sustainable Mobility of Cambiemos Murcia has developed a work project on sustainable urban mobility based on its electoral program, which includes proposals such as traffic calming, safe roads to schools or the pedestrianization of streets and areas.
Councilor Nacho Tornel explained that the objective of the sectoral group is that "the project acts as a fundamental piece in the perspective of a transition to neighborhoods and more self-sufficient and autonomous districts, where people can carry out their activities in the vicinity of their homes".
Tornel has argued that the project is a tool to facilitate and motivate citizen involvement in reflecting on the needs and possibilities related to mobility in neighborhoods and districts, with the aim of agreeing concrete actions in each neighborhood.
"For this, the tool is and should be available to anyone interested," said the mayor, for whom this is "an open project to be profiled in each locality in the most effective way for its neighbors."
The document, presented Wednesday in Guadeloupe, focuses on four fundamental aspects: pedestrian mobility, mobility by bicycle, mobility in public transport and mobility in private transport, all based on a diagnosis and a methodological proposal Participatory approach.
In relation to walking mobility, the municipal training considers it essential to promote the connection between neighboring districts by building wide and unobstructed connecting sidewalks, as well as the pedestrianization of streets where possible, especially in the old town of Pedanias
Traffic calming is another of the objectives of the Plan, as a result of cycling streets, in which vehicles respect the pedestrian and cyclist, and residential streets where people who move on foot have priority over the driver, Especially in pedanias, characterized by having tiny sidewalks.
The proposals of Cambiemos Murcia to promote mobility by bike are to create a Local Mobility Plan based on the principle that the bicycle is a means of transport, and to define the axes that support mobility in the locality, in contrast to the approaches Of the Master Plan of the Bicycle.
This refers to the situation of traffic calming in neighborhoods and districts, bike lanes, including the convenience of creating new ones taking into account local and primarily segregated mobility attraction centers and on the road, and the connection of the network of Cycling streets and bike lanes in the interior of the city and the districts, and between districts.
To all this is added the construction of parking and the existence of points of rent of the Public Bike System MuyBici, the possibility of climbing the bike to public transport and of launching, through the Municipal Board, the program "By bike Al cole ", in coordination with AMPAS and the traffic service, among other proposals.
With regard to mobility in public transport, Cambiemos Murcia raises the need to consider the bus lines of the districts the backbone of municipal mobility, with the promotion of tickets and bonds unique throughout the local term, review Of the current line map or the recovery of lines canceled in 2012.
It also proposes the creation of an efficient network of bus lanes with reserved platforms, the recovery of frequencies and schedules, the renewal of the bus fleet and the assumption, by the City Council, of the powers of public transport in districts.
Regarding private transport, the training emphasizes the need to promote initiatives for the sharing of private cars and to require the Town Hall to comply with the implementation plan for connecting parking spaces on the outskirts of the city. Would make the exchange of private transport to the public or the bike.
