The Councilor for Social Rights, Conchita Ruiz, presented this morning the 2nd Exhibition of Cultural and Artistic Activities carried out by associations and women's centers of the municipality of Murcia, which will run from tomorrow May 9 to the 19th of the same month .
A program that seeks to promote and support the association of women in Murcia and its districts as a means to promote equality of opportunities between genders and strengthen spaces for social participation, training and empowerment of women.
The 2nd Exhibition of Cultural and Artistic Activities divides the program prepared by the Department of Social Rights in four areas: theater, painting, literature and cinema.
As for the theater, the IV Contest Amparo Rivelles, will fill the Bernal theater of El Palmar, on May 9, 10 and 11, with the works 'La Comiquilla', 'Sala Paraíso' and 'Malas'.
In addition, on May 16, the Romea theater of the capital will open its doors to the company La Comic, which will interpret the play 'A curious husband never has rest'.
The Municipal Center García Alix will host on May 17, at 19:00 hours, a meeting of Murcia writers, and on the 18th the screening of the film 'Sufragistas'.
This space will also host an exhibition of paintings that, between May 15 and 19, will be present with works by women.
In this way, as explained by Conchita Ruiz, it aims to "make visible and publicize the diversity of cultural and artistic activities that take place in the Women's Centers of the Municipality, taking them out of their own spaces and taking them to public spaces where they can be Valued by the citizens ".
Painting exhibition
The collective painting exhibition is representative of the 22 workshops held in Women's Centers, and aims to show the different techniques and pictorial styles that are developed in them as well as to value the artistic production it represents.
A total of 45 paintings are exhibited, from the Emilia Pardo Bazán (Infante D. Juan Manuel), Rosalía de Castro (El Palmar), Carmen Conde (Barrio del Progreso), Sangonera la Seca, Vistalegre, El Carmen, Llano de Brujas, Mariana Pineda (The Fleet), Abenarabi, La Fama, El Puntal, Federica Montseny (Ronda Norte), Santa Eulalia, Santa Mª de Gracia and AAVV La Milagrosa de Espinardo.
Film Screening
Cinema as a cultural and artistic manifestation, is also an instrument and means of socialization suitable to know historical facts, lifestyles, cultures, feelings, relationships, points of view, etc.
As it shows us a multitude of realities that allow us to expand the worldview.
The purpose of this activity is to bring the women of the municipality closer to the cinematographic productions from a gender perspective.
The film proposed in this occasion, "The Suffragettes" narrates some historical facts fundamental for the achievement of women's right to vote, in England in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century, a period in which the feminist movement definitively erupted in Europe, thanks to which, today we enjoy the rights of equality between women and men.
Collaboration of the School of Hospitality of Cáritas
