NOW MURCIA has submitted two allegations to the specifications of specific administrative clauses and technical requirements for the contracting of preliminary projects for the rehabilitation and use of the Old Prison.
One of these proposals is to include in the criteria for the valuation of preliminary projects - point 11 of the bases - respect for historical memory.
The other demand, according to the councilor and spokesman of Now Murcia, Alicia Morales, is that among the members of the jury include a representative of the Association for the Recovery and Defense of the Historical Memory of Murcia 'We Have Memory'.
"Both claims have been transmitted to the municipal group by this association," explains the mayor.
Morales affirms that "from Now Murcia we have been pointing out that in any process of rehabilitation of the Old Prison, priority must be given to the constitution of a space for historical memory; it is a matter that must be studied in a serious way and with the proper advice and participation of Specialists, since we should not trivialize our history. "
The Councilor emphasizes that "once again we ask that the whole process for the rehabilitation and putting into use of the Old Prison should be done according to the requests of the groups that have organized to be able to participate and that their voice be heard. There is a process of consultations with associations and platforms. From Now Murcia we strongly support the demands of memorialist associations and the requests of the neighborhood platforms and we will work to be taken into account.
