Social Rights proposes a hundred actions to promote equality between women and men in municipal management (04/04/2017)

Conchita Ruiz has presented the strategic lines raised in the draft of the II Equal Opportunities Plan 2017-19 in the II Conference on Neighborhood Participation.

It defines six action strategies: gender mainstreaming in municipal policies, training and employment, reconciliation and co-responsibility, gender violence, education for equality and social participation.

The budget for women and equality exceeds € 480,000, an increase of 47% over the previous year.

6 strategic areas, 7 general objectives, 25 specific objectives and 99 specific actions are the general figures contained in the II Plan for Equal Opportunities between Women and Men 2017-2019, whose strategic lines presented in the draft have been presented this morning by the Councilor for Social Rights, Conchita Ruiz, in the course of the II Conference on Neighborhood Participation.

In front of an audience of almost one hundred associations - 75 women's centers, 15 associations that have among their objectives the promotion and well-being of women, and 3 associations supporting and integrating women with problems of prostitution and trafficking, Ruiz explained that the plan seeks to guarantee and promote equality of rights and opportunities between women and men from the municipal action, modifying those practices or actions that could lead to discrimination based on gender.

Its design has been attended by all councils and women's associations and women's centers, political groups and trade unions represented through the Municipal Council of Equality.

Among the actions contemplated are the development of training activities in gender matters for all municipal staff, as well as the incorporation of specific equality modules in the different training actions promoted by the City Council through its various councils.

Specific IES Programs

An in-depth study on the women of the municipality, the increase of places in centers for reconciliation of work and family life, awareness-raising and training activities aimed at men and the reinforcement of equipment for the care of Women victims of gender violence.

Likewise, the Councilor explained that "campaigns to raise awareness among citizens, in general, and adolescence and youth, in particular, for the enjoyment of life and parties free of gender-based violence, as well as targeted programs To the Institutes of secondary education ".

The promotion of a female entrepreneurship program, the extension of hours for citizenship, the increase of public places for schooling from 0 to 3 years old and dependent persons or the creation of guided tours 'Feminine Plural' are other proposed actions In the plan being developed by the City.

"Gender equality is one of the main lines of work of the Department of Social Rights," says Conchita Ruiz, who recalls that this year "we have increased by 47.75% budgets for women's policies and equality."

Agreements with 75 centers of women

Likewise, within the framework of the II Neighborhood Participation Day, the collaboration agreements with the 75 associations that make up the network of women's centers in the municipality have been signed, along with 15 groups of housewives, widows and Federations of the municipal and regional scope that have between their objectives the promotion and well-being of the women.

The total amount of this aid amounts to 132,000 euros.

With this grant, 114 courses, with about 2,500 hours of training, will be carried out for training and empowerment during this year.

The program of courses doubles with respect to 2016.
