Five high school students from the Region of Murcia participate this weekend in the National Physics Olympiad, which is held in Gerona under the direction of Professor of the University of Murcia (UMU) Antonio Guirao.
The regional representatives are the winners of the local phase of the Olympiad, whose prizes were delivered yesterday at the Faculty of Chemistry of the UMU.
The first prize was received by Jaime Rafael Barón Yusty (IES Jiménez de la Espada) and Emilio Domínguez Sánchez (IES Juan Carlos I);
The second, Fernando Ballesta Yagüe (IES Infante Don Juan Manuel) and Juan José Guerrero Franco (IES Miguel de Cervantes), and the third, Jaime López Pay (IES Alfonso X the Wise) and Jesus Gambín Egea (IES Ramón y Cajal).
In the local phase of this year a total of 60 students competed in all the Region of Murcia, who had to solve several exercises of Physics with application in the daily life.
The activity is organized by the Local Committee of the Royal Spanish Society of Physics in collaboration with the UMU and UPCT and is sponsored by the Seneca Foundation.
