The Socialist Municipal Group will defend in plenary session next Thursday an initiative to improve and modernize the commuter rail network linking Murcia with Alicante, Lorca and Águilas;

As well as to claim the commissioning of the service between Murcia and Cartagena, much demanded by citizens who must move daily between the two municipalities for work or studies.

Socialist councilor Enrique Ayuso has indicated that "the suburban service, highly used by Murcia and Murcia, is abandoned by the different administrations, with trains of more than forty years with frequent leaks and faults, poor roads and Terrible combinations ".

In this sense, the mayor of the PSOE recalled that, "with the continuous promises not fulfilled around the arrival of the AVE, the Murcia and Murcia have made the vicinity one of the main means of transport for their daily activity, It is inexplicable that the local government does not demand from the other administrations the modernization of the railway fleet and the rail network, in order to offer a better service to the citizens. "

In the initiative presented by the Socialist Group, the City of Murcia is also urged to require the electrification of roads between Murcia, Alicante, Lorca and Aguilas, while demanding that the train station of El Carmen becomes a station Intermodal where passengers can combine routes, access to public transport or use the taxi service in a convenient and simple.

Some of the agreements proposed in the socialist initiative include the completion of works and the start-up of the Monforte-Murcia rail service;

The electrification of the Alicante-Murcia suburban line, along the coast, without transhipments;

The electrification of the Murcia-Lorca-Águilas line;

The creation of an intermodal station in El Carmen for the interconnection of commuters, high speed and bus;

And updating the fleet of trains, among others.

"We hope that all the political groups support the motion so that the commuter service between Murcia and the localities is a complete and quality service," Ayuso concluded.
