The councilor of Cambiemos Murcia, Margarita Guerrero, will take to the plenary session next Thursday a motion for the creation of a Local Immigration and Intercultural Council.
The objective of this advisory body is "to help achieve more and better integration" and fosters coexistence and cultural exchange in the municipality, where people of 131 nationalities reside.
Guerrero explained that this Council, in order to propose a regulation in which all political groups collaborate, already exists in other cities of the country such as Barcelona, Valencia, Bilbao, Alicante, Granada, Cordoba, Albacete or Valladolid.
One of the priorities of Cambiemos Murcia is, in the words of the mayor, that the municipality becomes an intercultural city, with active participation in the political and social life of all its residents, and for this it considers necessary a clear and decisive commitment by Part of the Public Administrations.
In this regard, he recalled that last December 18, in the framework of the celebration of Migrant Day, the Consistory held a protocolary ceremony in the plenary hall.
"This Council would help to move in that direction, for the realization of the demands of the migrants," he added.
