The Councilor for Traffic and Citizen Security, Lola Sánchez, and the Councilor for Trade and Institutional Relations, Maruja Pelegrín, visited the Vistalegre neighborhood this morning to check the effectiveness of the 'Safe Trade' campaign and collect the suggestions of the merchants from area.
What was wanted with this initiative, which began in 2005 and was a pioneer in the Region, is to increase the security of the businesses, through visits of the Local Police of Barrio to maintain contacts, informing and collecting data and consultations of the Establishments.
This keeps the existing database up to date, using a tab designed for the purpose that is delivered to the new establishments.
There are currently 10,937 businesses registered in Murcia and districts.
During the last year the police of Barrio have made a total of 28,803 visits, of which 14,328 have developed in the urban helmet and 14,475 in pedanias.
The merchants who have maintained these contacts have raised 2,511 incidents on different issues, the most significant being mediation in conflicts, thefts, thefts, deficiencies in the vicinity, vandalism and fraud.
Councilwoman Lola Sánchez said that "in addition it should be noted, that many thanks have been received for the service being provided in this matter."
In the neighborhood of Vistalegre specifically there are 368 shops registered and during the last year 906 visits to establishments have been made.
