The Mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, accompanied by the Councilor for Sports and Health, Felipe Coello, and the president of the Union of Sports Federations of the Region of Murcia, José María López Gullón, presented the II Sports Festival today, a playful event And sports for the whole family that will fill the main pavilions and spaces of the city for exhibitions, workshops and activities for all audiences.
The event, which will take place on the weekend of April 1st and 2nd, will include more than 60 activities and will be developed along 110,000 square meters in more than a dozen sports facilities and public spaces in the city.
"This is the second edition of this initiative that we celebrated last year with great success and we wanted to expand with a full weekend of activities;
Two days in which children and adults can enjoy a family day and learn about new sports, while clubs, federations, companies and different groups spread their daily work, "said the mayor.
Specifically, the places where the activities will take place are the José Barnés Sports Center, the Prince of Asturias pavilions and adjacent areas, Nuevo Cagigal, IES Infante, Fofó Park and Auditorium, the skate park, heated swimming pool Mar Menor, Of Jose Barnés artificial grass and sports courts of La Vega.
"It will be a weekend with indoor and outdoor activities, adapted to everyone's level, regardless of age and gender," said the mayor, who added that "it is expected to double the participation of last year and reach an influx of up to 30,000 people ".
Throughout Saturday, from 9 am to 8 pm and Sunday morning from 9 am to 2 pm, exhibitions will be held and competitions of the various sports will be held.
Participants will also receive theoretical and practical insights on regulation and technical skills.
There have also been educational workshops for all ages, baptisms for diving in the Mar Menor pool, baseball batting with a pitcher, activities for people with disabilities, radio control in the pond of the Fofó Park lake or a hot air balloon in the Football field José Barnés, among many others.
In addition, in the multi-sport area of ​​the Barnés will be enabled a playhouse for children.
Solidarity race CEPAIM:
Most will be free participation activities, meaning that all those who wish to join the party at the time and without prior registration.
Activities and competitions with prior registration have also been organized, such as the 'III Solidarity Career CEPAIM Foundation' for the benefit of refugees.
The race will begin on Sunday, April 2, at 10 o'clock in the morning from the pavilion Cagigal.
There will be 5 kilometers of route and a participation of between 500 and 600 runners is expected.
Those interested can register on the CEPAIM website (http://cepaim.org/) and one hour before the race at the same starting point.
In the Second Sports Festival organized by the City Council together with the Union of Sports Federations of the Region, a total of 60 Federations participate in Murcia, with sports such as rhythmic gymnastics, billiards, archery, judo, table tennis, triathlon, kickboxing , Petanque, skateboarding, cycling, skating, athletics, tennis, volleyball, parkour, trampoline, boxing, bowling, chess, basketball, zumba, fencing, aeronautics, swimming, motorcycling, hockey, badminton, track and field, football, rowing and a long etc.
