The president and founder of Nortia Corporation, Manuel Lao Hernández, will be invested Doctor Honoris Causa by the San Antonio Catholic University of Murcia in recognition of his career and contribution to the business world, both in Spain and Latin America, highlighting his entrepreneurial and innovative character.
The events will begin at 10:30 am and will take place in the temple of the Jeronimos Monastery, this Thursday, March 23.
Manuel Lao founded CIRSA in 1978, being today the largest company in Spain and Latin America in the gambling and leisure sector.
In the 90s, he created the CIRSA Corporate University, which implemented the first Master in game, leisure and leisure in Spain and Europe, in collaboration with the School of Business Administration and the Polytechnic University of Catalonia.
In 2005 he created the Manuel Lao Foundation to, according to his words, "give back to society a part of what he has received from it".
Among others, it actively supports several research projects of the UCAM in the field of Health.
In 2007, it formed NORTIA Corporation, a multinational with activity in several sectors, that invoiced over 1.9 billion euros in 2016 and employs 18,000 people between Spain, Italy, Morocco and Latin America.
Manuel Lao Hernández presides since 1994 the Spanish Confederation of Entrepreneurs of the Game and is member of the directive board of the employer Foment of the Treball.
