The Department of Youth and Development Cooperation, led by Rebeca Perez, organized yesterday the guided route 'La Murcia Underground' in which a hundred young people participated accompanied by an official guide.
During the activity, framed within the program Networks for free time, participants were able to discover the history of Murcia through what is found under some streets and squares of the capital.
The two-hour itinerary began with the visit of the remnants of the wall of the Apostles Street, remains of the mosque of the Cathedral and the Arab wall, passing by the tower of Veronicas and ending at the promenade of the Malecón .
"And is that medieval Murcia is below the current street level and today is only visible if we access the interior of houses, museums, coffee shops or churches," according to Perez.
The route offered the young people the opportunity to see the remains of the Islamic Wall, the remains of the mosque or Aljama major, as well as the transformation of our city rising above the river level.
