The municipal groups of PSOE, Citizens, Now Murcia and Cambiemos Murcia have submitted a motion to the plenary this month to urge the mayor, José Ballesta, to convene within a maximum period of 15 days the Commission on Surveillance of Recruitment, which In charge of reviewing the compliance of the major contracts of the City and has been paralyzed for ten months.
In the motion, the opposition also called on the councilor to replace the current president of the Commission, the popular mayor Eduardo Martinez Oliva, responsible for the portfolios of Finance and Contracting, by a member who is not part of the Government team.
This was explained this morning in a joint press conference the PSOE councilors, José Ignacio Gras;
Of Citizens, Mario Gómez;
De Now Murcia, Luis Bermejo, and Cambiemos Murcia, Sergio Ramos, who have agreed to emphasize that the stoppage responds to "an interest of the PP because no progress".
The Commission was born out of a motion of the Socialist Group approved at the Plenary of July 2015 with the vocation to analyze the great contracts with the companies that receive more economic resources of the City council, such as Cespa, La Generala-Terra Natura, Home Help, Electromur , STV Gestión, Tribugest Tax Management, the Concessionary Company of the Tramway and Electromur.
These companies receive almost 100 million euros of public money per year, which represents 20 percent of the municipal budget, specifically Chapter 2.
The Commission had a work plan that began in February 2016 and was expected to be finalized by May of that year, according to the Government's own estimates.
However, the last meeting took place on May 2 and only allowed time to analyze the compliance with the first contract, the Home Help, with the imposition on the company by the Consistory of a fine of 150,000 euros for infringing The specifications.
The Government team stopped convening the meetings just as the Commission was analyzing the second contract of the company Tribugest, which receives seven million euros (two of them for voluntary IBI) of euros per year and is being investigated by the Court of Instruction n ° 1 of Lugo for presumed crime of influence peddling.
PP's will to promote transparency
"The attitude of the PP", according to the opposition, is that of a constant blockade of those initiatives that promote municipal transparency by means of a "structured and meditated strategy" that consists of taking the fundamental issues to commissions and then paralyzing their activity or "To dilate them in time".
In addition, the Popular Party "acts as if it still had an absolute majority and as if the corruption problems derived from the previous mandates were not with them ensuring to defend a transparency that does not really exist."
"What is Ballesta afraid of? What has to hide the PP?", Have asked the councilors of PSOE, Citizens, Now Murcia and Cambiemos Murcia.
The municipal groups have demanded that the government team "stop hampering our audit work for the transparency and efficiency of public resources." They are playing with money from Murcia and Murcia, and with the credibility of this City Council " , Which carries "years of nonsense".
