The Department of Development, led by Roque Ortiz, in collaboration with the concessionaire company, Ferrovial Servicios, have published a complete and detailed publication of the initiative '12 months, 12 walls' of the Grafiti Municipal Office.
Thus, in 40 pages all the murals painted by the local artists in different points of Murcia are collected, as well as a map specifying the exact location of its location in order to be able to make an itinerary through this open urban art museum '.
In each of the graffiti is also included the theme, the creators, a brief description of the different elements that compose it and the techniques used.
In total 10,000 leaflets will be distributed to be distributed in institutes, tourist offices, hotels and young spaces such as El Palmar, 585 m2 and La Nave.
In addition to the initiative '12 months, 12 walls', during the past year the Grafiti Municipal Office received a total of 236 requests for cleaning of pigeons, while in the first two months 46 have been received.
Of all these requests, 79% of people have contacted via email (oficina.grafiti@ayto-murcia.es), 6% through Facebook (Facebook.com/OfficeGrafitiMurcia);
Another 6% by Twitter (@MurciaGrafiti), 4% by phone (968218528), 3% by registry, 010 or by Road Cleaning Service) and 2% by Whatsapp (644761556).
Of its origin, 153 applications are from neighbors, 50 from the Office itself and from the Cleaning Service, 15 from municipal boards and 18 from others.
Of these requests, 80.93% have been made, 15.68% are still in process and 3.39% have been denied because they do not meet the conditions of the sheet as cleaning blinds, windows, portals ...
As for the type of spaces in which the graffiti has been cleaned, 56% have been private and 44% public such as cultural centers, sports facilities, libraries, schools, institutes, street furniture or public thoroughfare.
The districts and districts in which these works have been carried out are, in this order, the Cathedral, San Lorenzo, El Carmen, Tocinos Bridge and the Fleet.
Among all these actions, those that have developed completely in a group of streets or blocks as in the commercial area of ​​Calle Laredo, Cristo de Burgos and Calle Manresa, in the area of ​​San Bartolomé and Calle Alfaro and in The area of ​​the Plaza Aurora.
Thus, the Grafiti Municipal Office dedicated in 2016 about 3,600 hours to clean inadequate graffiti in more than 200 spaces that represent 3,000 square meters.
For this purpose a van was used with specific machinery for the cleaning of this type of graffiti along with 1,800 kilograms of paint strippers, 220,000 liters of water and more than 500 kilograms of paint.
In addition to this, there are 300 hours dedicated to awareness-raising and promotion activities, 90 consultations and advice to neighbors and groups and 19 activities.
Heritage actions
The managers of the Grafiti Municipal Office have also carried out different actions to offer greater agility and efficiency to be able to clean vandalic graffiti located in spaces that affect the heritage.
Thus, a resolution has been obtained for actions within the PECHM environment, the General Directorate of Cultural Property has been asked for different requests to be able to intervene in BIC buildings, and meetings have been held with this general directorate to establish more flexible action protocols in BIC .
Likewise, the resolution is currently underway to be able to intervene more quickly in cataloged buildings.
The Councilor for Development, Roque Ortiz, stressed that "all the activity developed by the Grafiti Municipal Office has caused that our initiative has become a reference at national level since many municipalities have contacted us to know how to has developed".
Ortiz also explained that "many communities of neighbors and businesses have been encouraged to decorate their bass and blinds and a good part of the artists who have participated with us now dedicate themselves professionally in the decoration of spaces."
