The secrets of the water of your city in Murcia ', organized by the Social Work of La Caixa and Aguas de Murcia, in collaboration with the City Council, and which seeks to raise awareness about the use of this precious resource and, in turn, so scarce , Thus reflecting on the citizens about the great technological, economic and environmental challenges posed by urban water management.
Councilor for Development, Roque Ortiz, Gerardo Cuartero, Business Area Director of CaixaBank in Murcia, José Albaladejo, director of Aguas de Murcia, and the curator of the exhibition Sergi Romeu have presented this morning the sample that is structured in three large Areas: 'Water, the elixir of life', 'Water in the city' and 'Sustainable water'.
In "Water, the elixir of life" are presented the exceptional physical properties of liquid water, as well as the intimate relationship between this unique compound and all living beings, including humans.
In this first area, the public will be able to discover what is special about liquid water, how much we have and how it is distributed on the planet.
'Water in the city' shows the urban water cycle, that is, the path that runs through the water destined for urban supply, from the point of capture until it returns to the medium once it is used, passing through the potabilization phases, Distribution, purification of waste water and return to the natural environment or reuse.
An interactive game, which will turn attendees into water managers in an imaginary city, will pose different challenges that must be overcome to ensure an adequate distribution of drinking water.
Lastly, 'Sustainable Water' presents the 21st century challenges of drinking water supply in the urban environment, and shows how responsible use of water can foster a better future for all.
Parallel to the exhibition, an online game has been created that allows anyone to become a water manager in an imaginary city.
With this game, of a general structure similar to the famous SimCity, users must build the infrastructure required to ensure an adequate supply of water as the city grows.
In addition, they will have to face different technical and environmental challenges, as well as to satisfy the requests that the population requests them, while the game progresses.
The final objectives are to ensure that the city thrives and to obtain maximum satisfaction from its inhabitants, through an efficient and sustainable management of water.
In addition, if users have visited the exhibition, they can access a supplementary level of the game by entering a code that will be provided to the entrance of the sample.
