The student of the University of Murcia (UMU) Carlos Luis Seva Llor has developed an application for mobile devices in his Master's Degree (TFM) that facilitates the mothers a guide to take sanitary control during gestation.
The application, called Gestavida, offers in a practical and comfortable way a great variety of functionalities, which includes a simple guide with advice and information on the evolution of the baby, changes in the mother during pregnancy, appointments with the doctor, etc. .
At the same time, Gestavida also has an ultrasound gallery with detailed information, a timer and historical counter of baby contractions and kicks, a real-time hospital search engine based on geo-positioning and customizable charts of follow-up variables (Weight, glucose levels, iron, folic acid ...).
The app has aroused great interest since its inception, as evidenced by the huge amount of downloads achieved on both the iOS platform and Android, which has placed in the top positions of these when looking for the word pregnancy, in addition to being placed Among the top rated applications in the App Store Free Health and Fitness Apps category.
Recently, the UMU has adapted the app for the program of promotion of maternal and child health for immigrant women of the NGO Murcia Columbares Association.
In addition to changing some functionalities for others that were of interest to the Association, new content has been added according to the profile of the users of the Association, including a module with information on pregnancy management in English, French and Arabic.
Gestavida is the result of the TFM of the Master of New Technologies in Computer Science of the UMU, directed by professors José Luis Fernández Alemán and Ambrosio Toval Álvarez.
