The UCAM participates in the 1st World Congress of the WTO on Intelligent Destinations The Catholic University, the only university center attached to the world's largest tourism body, participates in this event that will take place from tomorrow (14/02/2017)

The Auditorium and Congress Center Víctor Villegas de Murcia hosts, from Wednesday Wednesday to Friday, the First Congress of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), in which the Catholic University of Murcia will participate actively in both the Committee Scientist of the event as for being a member of the Patronage of Caravaca de la Cruz in the Jubilee Year.

The objective of this meeting is to lead and shape this new tourism model of the 21st century based on innovation, technology, sustainability and accessibility.

Josefina García Lozano, rector of the UCAM, will inaugurate the pre-congress tomorrow Wednesday at 15:30 hours, along with Dirk Glaesser, director of the Sustainable Tourism Development Program;

Antonio Nieto, Deputy Director General for Tourism Cooperation and Competitiveness of Spain, and Juan Hernández Albarracín, Minister of Economic Development, Tourism and Employment of the Region of Murcia.

For her part, Ginesa Martínez del Vas, Vice Dean of the Degree in Tourism, will participate in one of the sessions titled 'The management of cultural heritage as a tourism value'.

During the celebration of the event will be contemplated a Academic Block for which there will be a 'Call for Papers' for academics and another Block of Entrepreneurs who present their company / product / innovative service.

The conference will conclude with the reading of a historical Manifesto in which the contributions made by all the participants will be collected and will be the germ of the first UNWTO Report on Intelligent Tourist Destinations.
