NOW MURCIA remembers that the rehabilitation of the old Post Office building will have to preserve the facade and the general structure of the property, and indicates that it will be attentive to that the actions are done with the corresponding technical reports and the supervision by specialists in patrimony of both the City council and of The General Directorate of Cultural Property of the Autonomous Community.
The spokeswoman Alicia Morales points out that this emblematic building has a degree of protection 2 in PECHA (Special Plan of the Historic Artistic Complex of Murcia), "which forces you to respect the facade and the general structure", and also must adhere to the Law of Cultural Heritage of the Region.
Specifically, the PECHA tab establishes that the building's façade, its interior, and the urban scene (closest urban environment) are of "interest".
After the presentation today of the rehabilitation project of the building, the councilor acknowledges that she hopes that "it will not be another simple advertisement, but it really is going to recover, since it is one of the great buildings that are still abandoned in the center of Murcia."
Morales stresses that even if the building is in private hands "its rehabilitation must follow the guidelines of restoration and new uses of the heritage, maintaining the significant elements indicated in the sheet of protection, from now Murcia we will be vigilant to its strict compliance."
